Mt. Jitsusoji High Kojiro Sakura Somei Yoshino

Yamataka Kojiro Sakura

Furuki is said to be the oldest cherry tree in Japan, 2000 years old. It is one of Japan's three largest cherry blossoms and is the first cherry tree registered as a nationally designated natural monument in Japan.
According to legend, Yamato Takeru (Yamato Takeru no Mikoto) stopped by this area when he was on an expedition to the eastern country and planted this cherry tree in commemoration. In 1922, it was designated as a national natural monument, and in 1990, it was designated as one of the "100 Best Shinnihon Trees". Although it has been met with natural disasters many times, it has become smaller than the size of its heyday, but the thick and powerful branches extend eastward, and the trunk that supports them makes you feel "life".
In addition, when Kojiro Sakura is over, Yoshino cherry tree around it blooms, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of contrast with daffodils planted in the garden.
